- A full fediverse server: it federates with Mastodon, Sharkey and everything else speaking ActivityPub.
- Accounts and notes live in a managed Postgres on its own private VM; the drive lives on a volume beside the app.
- Deployed with a setup password set before the hostname resolves, so the root account cannot be claimed by a passer-by.
- The hostname is the instance's identity, so the recipe fixes it before the first boot rather than after.
